The AGS Annual Scientific Meeting is the premier educational event in geriatrics, providing the latest information on clinical care, research on aging, and innovative models of care delivery. The 2014 Annual Meeting, held May 15-17, in Orlando, Florida, will address the educational needs of geriatrics professionals from all disciplines.
The 2014 Meeting “Slowing Aging: Signaling, Stress Resistance, Stem Cells, And Small Molecules; Insights From Old And New Models" will be held in San Antonio, Texas from May 30 to June 2 and will include leading aging researchers from the UK, Australia, Canada and the US. This meeting will cover exciting new topics in aging research as well as symposia directly pertinent to new research foci on clinical aspects of gerontology.
With support from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development, the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research, and the Population Association of America, the Institute of Behavioral Science and the NIH/NICHD supported University of Colorado Population Center are hosting the 5th annual conference entitled Integrating Genetics and the Social Sciences. The goal of this conference is to showcase behavioral and molecular genetic studies that enhance demographic and social scientific inquiry.
The Survey Research Center at the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan, in collaboration with the National Poverty Center at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, invites applications to participate in a five-day workshop June 23-27, 2014, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The workshop will introduce participants to the use of micro-data from the Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP) and provide hands-on applications to prepare them to conduct their own SIPP-based research project.
This workshop is designed for researchers new to survey research who are considering using an original survey to collect data. The workshop begins with a discussion of the advantages and opportunities that surveys can offer, as well as when surveys are not appropriate or beneficial for research projects and a quick overview of some alternative methods of data collection. It then provides an overview of the entire survey research process, including theoretical development, mode choice, questionnaire design, sampling, and maximizing response rate.
This meeting is a gathering of gerontologists from the United States and around the world, including over 400 scientific symposia, paper, and poster presentations. The 2014 theme is “Making Connections: From Cells to Societies.” The 2014 meeting is happening in Washington, D.C., November 5-9, the same week that national elections are held, where changes in Congress could have a major impact on gerontological research and the programs and services that support the country’s aging population.
